Both of these sedans have two powertrains available, so we will start with their standard fare to get a sense of the kind of performance and fuel efficiency they offer. One of the biggest reasons a lot of people choose a car like these two models is to get impressive gas mileage; this makes midsize sedans a terrific choice for your daily driver—but they are not all the same.
To see just what we mean, we will look at the fuel efficiency of the standard engines on these two cars, in terms of city, highway, and combined. This makes it easy to compare them and see which one will work best for you.

Right off the bat, you can see that there is a big difference in their gas mileage, with the Accord giving you much better efficiency in the city. This results in superior combined gas mileage, as you would expect. The K5 has a bit more legroom up front, but much less legroom for your passengers in the back. As much as we enjoy our space while driving, we definitely appreciate how much room your passengers get to stretch out in the back of the Accord.
There is a big difference in cargo capacity, however, which is definitely worth noting. More than a full cubic foot of extra room in the Accord's trunk means you can fit far more into your car each day. This can really matter when you are trying to get luggage, gear, or groceries into your car while taking care of everything you want to do.
Comfort Features

While the K5 starts with cloth upholstery, it has SynTex upholstery available, rather than the leather upholstery we see in the Accord. We prefer the feel of real leather over synthetic leather, so keep that in mind while you shop.
Tech Features
Along with everything else, you deserve a car with impressive tech features that can elevate your time on the road. The technology that you get inside your car has a big impact on your experience as you drive each day, which is why it is so important. Although Kia has a lot to offer, it once again comes up short compared to what you can get with the 2026 Accord.
Starting with the Accord, you get an impressive 10.2-inch Digital Instrument Cluster standard in every model, which makes it easy to keep track of important data, along with a wireless phone charger. Available features include a gorgeous 12.3-inch infotainment display, a six-inch head-up display, and a remarkable 12-speaker Bose Premium sound system.
In the K5, a 4.2-inch instrument display is standard, which is substantially smaller than what Honda gives you—and that makes a big difference as you drive. A wireless phone charger is available, but not standard, as it is in the Accord. Other available options include a larger driver display and a similar Bose sound system, but we prefer what Honda gives you overall.
